The British Eventing non-executive board serve on a voluntary basis and are responsible for the overall good governance of the sport and the financial health of the organisation. Members of the board often have a connection with the sport either as owners, riders or event organisers for example. There can be up to nine Board Directors and a Chairman appointed by the Board. Directors can be elected (up to four Directors) or co-opted (up to four Directors) to serve a term of four years. They can serve a further four years in direct succession if re-elected or re-appointed. However, they must retire for two years if they have served two consecutive terms. Following this break they can then be reappointed or stand for election again.
Co-opted Board Directors are chosen for their expertise in a chosen business environment. The Board meets a minimum of six times a year.

Corinna is a qualified accountant and experienced finance professional. During her career she has held various Finance Director, Chief Financial Officer, Non Executive Director and consultant roles in both the private and not for profit sectors. She now Chairs BE's Finance Committee, having been a member since July 2021. She has had a long connection with horses and eventing, the latter mainly as a volunteer official. |
Jan Cottam (elected 2021) |
Jan has been involved in the Sport for many years & is a National & International Official for Eventing. She has always owned horses, some of which have been competed for her at Grassroots to 4* level. She organises Goring Heath Horse Trials & was Chair of the BE Organisers’ Association (BEOA) for 6 years. Jenny has a background rich in both commercial experience and in developing and delivering growth strategies for both large and small organisations in the public, private and charitable sector. She worked for over ten years as a strategy consultant for a top tier strategy house She is married to Australian eventer Bill Levett and have been working with him running his Eventing operation for the last 25 years. Following 20 years working in IT and Business management for a large financial organisation she recently completed her MBA at Sheffield University. Pippa Funnell (elected 2023) |
Three times Olympian, winning two team silver and one individual bronze medals, Pippa has also won two European Championships team golds and one individual bronze medal. Pippa was also the very first person to win the Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing which she did in 2003. Having held nearly every major title there is to win during her competition career so far she has notably won Badminton on three occassions, been awarded the honour of The Times Sportswoman of the Year in 2003 and been a top-five nominee for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award. Aside from being a prolific competitor, Pippa is also a renowned producer of young horses and a trailblazer in British breeding with the Billy Stud which she co-owns with husband Will Funnell and Donal Barnwell. |
Will Cursham (co-opted 2020) |
Will is a dispute resolution lawyer specialising in land-related disputes. He works for VINCI Construction, a company that focuses on buildings, structures and infrastructure that improve the living environment, mobility and economic competitiveness of the regions it works in. He is Founder and Chairman of ProCon Nottinghamshire, a membership organisation for the property and construction industry in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. He has led legal teams in numerous high value cases for blue-chip clients with successful outcomes. Will’s equestrian background is steeped in Eventing as his parents both evented to the highest levels. Will has evented up to Novice level himself, and still owns his own horse. Sandeep brings a wealth of governance and legal experience to BE in addition to having an extensive background in banking and law. Previously a Board member of WaterAid, Sandeep currenlty chairs a human rights charity alongside the Octavia Housing Board in addition to sitting on the Board of the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children charity and the Mowgli Foundation |
