British Eventing Support Trust

The British Eventing Support Trust (BE Support Trust) (Charity Registered No: 1157610) was founded in 2021 to provide medical, financial and mental health support to British Eventing members who compete.

The charity also works to promote, research, develop and implement initiatives that will maintain the safety of the sport and the welfare of riders.

Who we help

When the British Eventing Support Trust was set up in 2021, we wanted to help all British Eventing competing rider members (Introductory, Standard and premier) who needed our support. Whether that was because they had been injured whilst training or competing or they found themselves with mental health struggles, the BE Support Trust would help all riders. Since then, we’ve supported international riders like Nicola Wilson and Bubby Upton, and that’s helped raise the profile within equestrian sport.  While these riders are very well known within the sport, the charity’s aim is to help as many riders as possible from grass roots to the very top of the sport.

What we do

We help riders, in a prompt and sympathetic manner, through difficult times resulting from an equestrian accident or mental health issues.   Applications are confidential and reviewed by medical professionals.  The support and level funding are decided by the Board of Trustees.

We offer four types of support:

Guidance: Everyone who contacts us is offered support and guidance unique to their circumstances.

Physical Support: We offer physical support for injured riders and in many cases, this involves rehabilitation.

Mental Health Support: We offer mental health support through our 24/7 mental health helpline and through our partnership with Sporting Chance.  Beneficiaries receive a minimum of six counselling sessions.  If you are struggling with a mental health issue, please call 07780 008877.

Financial Support:  We offer financial support to beneficiaries who have fallen on hard times because of an equestrian related accident.

There are cases where a beneficiary will receive multiple forms of support.
