Running an event takes a team of dedicated workers both in the run-up to the event and on the day. For running a BE90 to Novice level one day event, you should plan on having the following helpers and volunteers in place. 

Dressage

  • Dressage Judge
  • Dressage writer
  • Collecting ring steward for each arena
  • Chief dressage steward

Show jumping

  • Show jumping judge
  • Show jumping time keeper
  • Arena party
  • Collecting ring stewards

Cross country

  • Two fence judges per fence
  • A control and commentary team
  • Radio operators
  • Fence repair team
  • Starters and time keepers
  • Collecting ring steward
  • Pony Club or motorbike runners

Other Officials and volunteers

  • Scorers
  • Score collectors
  • Score chasers
  • Scoreboard writers
  • Car park attendants
