BE Regional Youth Championships

BE Regional Youth Championships

The BE Regional Youth Championships are the ideal goal for any younger rider, with the opportunity not only to compete for yourself but also to have the honour of representing your region at a national championship. At every level, from BE80 to Novice (which is contested at CCI2*-L), each region sends a squad of up to ten riders, who will not only compete as individuals but also as part of the team - with the best four scores from each squad deciding which region will take the prestigious team title.

The championships are split over two venues, designed to give two unique championship experiences and to help set progressive goals for riders to work towards and achieve.

The two prestigious National Championships for 2025 are as follows:

HOW DO I QUALIFY?

Qualification for the BE Regional Youth Championships is based upon the results of the BE Regional Leagues, with the Top 10 eligible combinations in each height category at the end of the qualification period invited to represent their region at the Championships.

The BE Regional Leagues, powered by Equating's, reflect the Power Based Average (PBA) score of each combination.

Power Average: The PBA is calculated from the best three finishing scores of combination, achieved across any of the qualifying classes contested. Please NOTE British Eventing is reverting to the system used in 2023 where results in any classes at the relevant level will count towards qualification for the Leagues this is due to the inclement weather we have been experiencing.  This does not include PC or GO BE classes.

Two of the three counting scores are a combination's best two finishing scores from the current calendar year. The third qualifying score depends on where the first two were achieved.   At least one counting score must be achieved within the member's designated region.

The calculation for the power average is made in this order:

  1. First, a combination's lowest two finishing scores from the current calendar year are found, regardless of the region.
  2. Identifying the third finishing score then depends on the region in which the lowest two 'calendar year' finishing scores were achieved in:
    a) If at least one of these two finishing scores was achieved in the athlete's region, then the best finishing score from the qualification period (not already considered) will be used as the third qualifying finishing score. ◦
    b) If neither of the two finishing scores were achieved in the athlete's region, the best finishing score in the qualification period that was in the athlete's region will be used.

The qualification period for the Bishop Burton Championships runs from 1 July in the preceding year to 30 June in the year of the Championships and 1 July in the preceding year to 31 July for the Chillington Hall Championships.
