Barbury Castle International Horse Trials is widely regarded as a jewel in the crown of eventing in Britain and is a highlight in the calendar for many of the sport’s supporters. Event Director, Alec Lochore is Consultant Equestrian Sport Manager to the Organising Committee of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and has been instrumental in the delivery of the delayed Games. There is no doubt that the atmosphere at Barbury this year will be electric, as excitement begins to build towards this exciting summer of sport.

It is not only members of the British Team that will be using the event as their final outing before Tokyo, British-based riders from Ireland, Sweden and New Zealand will also be taking the opportunity to get their eye in one last time. Eventing power couple, Tim and Jonelle Price are two of these riders – both in the World Top 10 and both selected to represent New Zealand alongside each other at The Games.

Throughout the four days of the competition more than 700 horses will be competing in the grounds of the Barbury Castle estate. Alongside the International classes, there will be a wide range of National classes, including the Novice Masters – an exciting new British Eventing competition for riders at Intermediate Novice level.

The cross country will run over stunning, rolling down land, with much of the course using old turf gallops. Thanks to the well-drained chalk soil, the going promises to be spot on, providing the perfect stage for this sporting bonanza.

Tickets are available to purchase now by visiting the MEM website, www.musketeer.co.uk. To be compliant with the current guidance, all visitors must have a ticket purchased in advance and adhere to all conditions of entry. There will be no admission on the day.
