COLLETT RETAINS LEAD AFTER CROSS COUNTRY AT LES 5 ETOILES DE PAU
Following an exciting day of cross country at Les 5 Etoiles de Pau in France, Great Britain’s Laura Collett retains her lead with London 52 heading into the final show jumping phase.
Today saw Laura ride a perfectly judged round on the impressive gelding London 52, owned by Karen Bartlett, Keith Scott and herself. The pair jumped clear and completed one second inside the influential optimum time to retain their score of 21.3 penalties.
Heading into tomorrow’s show jumping phase in second place is Piggy March with John and Chloe Perry and Alison Swinburn’s Brookfield Inocent, who maintained their overnight score of 22.2 and climbed one place up the leader board.
New Zealand’s Tim Price and Wesko complete the top three on 23.4 penalties. With just 2.3 penalties separating the top three, everything is to play for in tomorrow’s show jumping phase.
The experienced combination of Alexander Bragg and Mr and Mrs Ellicott’s Zagreb rose three places up the leader board to take fourth place on 24.9, and GB’s Mollie Summerland on her own Charly Van Ter Heiden showed just how strong their partnership is in their first 5* to complete bang on the optimum time for fifth place on 25.5.
Tom McEwen with Fred and Penny Barker’s, Jane Inns’ and Ali McEwen’s Toledo De Kerser showed their pure class across the country to take sixth place on 27.0, rising from twelfth place after dressage.
Ros Canter and Zenshera drop only a couple of places from their overnight position to seventh place after adding just 2.4 time penalties to their stunning cross country round to head into the show jumping on a score of 27.2.
Oliver Townend and MHS King Joules owned by Tom Joules, round off the top ten for GB on a score of 30.3 climbing eight places after dressage, to ninth place.
