The 2022 BE Fixtures Calendar has arrived!
British Eventing is delighted to give members the first glimpse of next year’s action-packed calendar – which includes returning favourites such as Area Festivals, the Team Challenge and Novice Masters; as well as the introduction of Intermediate Masters and an exciting venue for the BE80 Championships.
Our BE venues and their teams did an incredible job this year to keep the sport moving during the ongoing challenges of the pandemic and for that we say a very big THANK YOU. We can’t wait to deliver another fantastic calendar for our members and supporters in 2022 and have been working hard to get it ready for you.

Arranging a calendar during these unprecedented times has meant there are still some dates that need to be confirmed and others that may be subject to change due to the uncertainty that the Covid 19 pandemic brings. We are sharing the calendar with the dates confirmed so far as we wanted to make sure that everyone had access to the calendar before Christmas so they can start planning their 2022 campaigns. Additional dates will be updated to the document as soon as we have them, with the final calendar being confirmed in its entirety in January.
Area Festivals
In 2021 the inaugural Area Festivals were launched and, when planning for 2022, we have taken into account the key feedback received from the membership and the BE80–105 Rider Working Group.
We trust going forward that the Area Festivals will be an even greater success and will provide the pathway to the National Championships for grassroots riders – at Badminton for BE90 and BE100 and at Bramham for BE80 (starting from 2023, see below). The intention is to introduce a fifth Area Festival into the South West region in 2023, once the existing four have become established with sufficient demand.
Area Festivals confirmed for 2022:
Week 11 (14-15 May) – Firle Place, Sussex
Week 23 (6-7 August) – Glamis Castle, Angus (TBC)
Week 25 (19-21) August – Frickley Park, South Yorkshire
Week 28 (10-11) September – Chillington Hall, Staffordshire
2022 BE80 Championships – Bramham
The BE80 Championships arrives at Bramham, West Yorkshire in 2022 (Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 June). For 2022 only, the route to these Championships will be through Direct Qualification.
Direction Qualification for the 2022 Championship would be based on the following:
- Eligible combinations who are placed first in any BE80 section run between 3 May 2021-1 May 2022
- Riders need to be an Introductory, Standard or Premier BE Member and Horses must possess a Season Ticket to enter the Championship (Pay as You Go members are not eligible to compete at National Championships)
- In the last 20 years Riders must have not competed at either 4* level in 2018 and earlier or at 5* level in 2019 and thereafter
- For BE80 National Championship, Riders must not have competed at Intermediate or higher for the current or preceding 5 seasons
- Downgraded Horses are not permitted
- Combinations must never have gained Foundation Points at any BE100 Class or above
After the 2022 Championships the qualification for 2023 will be via the National Qualifier classes at the Area Festivals.
Novice Masters
After a successful pilot, the Novice Masters will continue for 2022 and will run at the following venues:
13-15 May – Floors Castle International, Roxburghshire
8-10 July – Barbury Castle International, Wiltshire
6-7 August – Little Downham (2), Cambridgeshire
17-18 September – Allerton Park, North Yorkshire
8-9 October – Weston Park, Shropshire
Intermediate Masters
Following the success of the Novice Masters, an Intermediate Masters will be piloted in 2022. This is another concept put forward by the Rider Working Group which runs along similar lines to the Novice Masters but at Open Intermediate level.
The venues for these new classes will be confirmed in the near future. However, they are provisionally set as:
21-22 May – Rockingham Castle International, Leicestershire
2-5 June – Belsay International, Northumberland
17-19 June – Nunney International, Somerset
Team Challenge
In 2022 we are hoping to reintroduce the qualification element of the popular Team Challenge, with qualifiers taking place nationally for the Final at Weston Park, Shropshire in October.
International calendar changes
- Following the loss of Keysoe International a tender process was undertaken and Somerford International in Cheshire has been awarded this fixture in week 18 (1-3 July). They will offer BE100, Novice, Intermediate, CCI2*S and CCI3*S classes
- In response to Somerford International moving from week 25, a tender process was undertaken for week 18, and the replacement fixture has been awarded to Frickley Park, South Yorkshire which will run on 19-21 August and will combine their International Fixture with the Area Festival classes
Further information
The full rules for all the Championships will be available in the 2022 Rules and Members’ Handbook which will be published in the new year.
